What we've done so far...

Even though I'm just starting this blog, I've been working on getting ideas together since the weekend Caleb proposed almost a year ago. There are things that we definitely want, but haven't talked to any vendors yet. Then, there are things that can be partially or completely checked off the list. So, here's a quick overview of things so far:

The Wedding Coordinator
Our wedding coordinator is Fran Poppell from A Friend of the Bride. I used to go to church with her, she is a very sweet lady, and I'm sure she will be a lot of help.

The Photographer
Our photographer is the married couple, Linda & Olyn Long, of Long's Photography. I absolutely love their photos and check their blog all the time. We've signed the contract, now we're just working on paying them.

The Officiant
Caleb's dad is going to be our Officiant for the ceremony. That will mean a lot to both of us. At Caleb's brother's wedding their dad said "Who gives their daughter to our son?" I can't wait to hear that.

The Venue
Our ceremony and reception will be held at Timberlane Church of Christ here in Tallahassee, Florida. We've already got our names on the calendar and we're set to go venue-wise.

My Dress
I just found my dress this past weekend at David's Bridal. I'm so excited! It's an Oleg Cassini gown (Style #CU099). We also got the chapel-length veil, the slip/crinoline thing, and a tiara. I look and feel like a princess bride.

Those are the only things set in stone so far.

Other details that I know I'd like are:

The Cake
I think this cake is absolutely gorgeous! The only things I would change about it is that the silver ribbon would be navy blue and that there would be no flowers on our cake. Instead of flowers I would like to find a traditional cake topper that resembles Caleb and me.

I also have some ideas for decorations, favors, etc., but nothing too definite yet.

Good-night for now!

Let's start at the beginning...

Some of you probably already know the basic facts about us (who we are, how we met, when we got engaged, etc.), but for those of you who don't know the basics I thought that's where I would start this blog.

About Lacey

I live in Tallahassee, Florida and am a full time student at Flagler College. I will graduate in December 2010 with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I also work part time as an office assistant at a law firm in downtown Tallahassee.

I was born in Gainesville, Florida and am the oldest child in my family (I have three younger sisters). I love music, especially country, and singing. My main interest for the last year has been wedding planning. I try to do that between school projects and working.

About Caleb

Caleb lives in North Carolina and works full time with Braun Racing for the NASCAR Nationwide Series. He was recently promoted to the position of Suspension Supervisor for the #38 team (Jason Leffler). He graduated in February 2008 from NASCAR Technical Institute.

He was born in Tallahassee, Florida and is the middle child in his family (he has one older brother and a younger sister). He's been racing stock cars since he was 15 years old, and has recently taken an interest in racing 1/24 scale slot cars.

How We Met

We met each other way back in August 2001 when we were in the 8th grade. It was in Bible class at Timberlane Church of Christ that we first met and we have been friends since then. All throughout high school Caleb would ask me out. I wouldn't ever accept because I was dating a different guy, but things changed during my first semester of college. I started falling for Caleb really hard. The tables turned and I decided to ask Caleb out, thankfully he accepted. We've been dating ever since.

How Caleb Proposed

We went to a friend of Caleb's family's Christmas party. After the party, Caleb and I had to go by my house so I could get my overnight things to stay at his parents' house and do Christmas with his family in the morning. When we got out of the car Caleb grabbed his new jacket and started to put it on. I asked him if he was cold, because I normally get cold way before he does. He said that he was a little cold, but wanted to try it on because he hadn't yet (it didn't occur to me that he had worn it the night before out to dinner). I walked over and fixed his collar, then went to unlock the door to my house. I heard Caleb say "Lacey", so I turned around and walked back over to him. He then got down on one knee and asked me "Will you marry me?" and held out a ring. My first response was "Really?!" (I don't think I'll ever live that one down) and then I said "Yes!" a whole bunch.
